My 1st strawberry jam batch

This Sunday i was a busy little homemaker...I finally had time to can my fresh picked strawberries!! This was my very first time canning and WOW it was so fun!! My Mother in Law canned all morning together...she said that I was born in the wrong time and I should have been a housewife in the pioneer times...I agreed!! I love learning all about the "old ways" Well I believe that the day was a success...we canned 21 jars of strawberry jam and it was delicious. Plus we have three pints left to make strawberry shortcake...so today I plan on baking some homemade buttermilk biscuit this will also be a first recipe, but it will be a wonderful dessert to tonight's dinner. I don't know why but I love to bake and be in the kitchen on rainy days, I like to clean my house from top to bottom and light all my candles and just bake all day. Yeah I agree I'm a dork but it's just a weird thing I like.

  3. OMgoodness Jenn,
You have a GREAT MIL, how sweet and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your jam is going to decorate your cupboards so beautifully and when you can the next project imagine how pretty they will all be together!! Looks like quite a batch, which is the only way to do it in my opinion. I am definitely going to do salsa again as I have 32 tomato plants out there...hahahaha ;-)

    HUGS!

  4. Oh, and I meant to say I LOVE that cookbook you have. Is it yours or your MIL? I just bought a vintage Better Homes picture cookbook and can't wait to get it!!

  6. How did your biscuits come out Jenn? I finally got the hang of making them after a few flops. The idea is to handle the dough as little as possible.
